Satvrnal Banana Distillate (43%)

N: estery, focused on banana of course but in an overripe, funky way like a young Jamaican. Caramel spiked with diesel. A bit of sappy, aromatic wood, funny enough. Incredibly thick and enticing

P: turns out we’re enjoying these caramelized, almost composted bananas on a farm, with all the wonderful background aromas that brings. Spicy pepper in the mouth too, Sichuan pepper even. And then the finish is cooling and slightly herbal, with the banana sweetness more of a top note than bass. I said Jamaican on the nose but this is really closer to a funky white agricole…not that you could truly mistake for anything but, well, destilado de pláyano. So fun, joyous even

Edénico Guanabana (Soursop) (42%)

N: a burst of sour citrus, sour apple, green/underripe tropical fruit, disinfectant wipes, and a bitterly aromatic element not unlike a dry hopped sour ale

P: this is, again, rather hoppy in its aromatics, not unlike Fleur de Bière, or those hopped seltzer waters that Sierra Nevada makes. Not as lively as the nose, downright flat compared to the explosive companions I unfairly paired this with. But still very tasty, if you like soapy hops and citrus-scented cleaning spray

Edénico Guayaba (Guava) (42%)

N: unmistakably guava, but very funky, not in a typically estery way but like dirty socks, or sweaty people smelling of sex, even dog shit to be honest. All of this is good, don’t worry

P: sweet guava and pink grapefruit, creamy and sweet like fresh squeezed fruit juice or sorbet, and not nearly as stinky as the nose. I love the interplay of the aromatic stink and the simpler pleasures of the palate
