Halloween Spirits #1: Evil Eau-de-Vie

Riravo Pumpkin Wild Fruit Spirit (38%)

N: cucumber, green tropical fruit (soursop?), aloe, basil seed, raw pepita

P: again quite green, exotic, and sweet. Basil seed above all (falooda). More underripe summer squash than pumpkin, but of course when we think pumpkin we think of it roasted, and this is more seedy than fleshy in any case. I question why they bottle this at 38%, but it doesn’t come off as watery as you’d expect. Not at all autumnal, but I like it

Riravo Feijoa Wild Fruit Spirit (42%)

N: blast of sweet mint, anise, and matcha candy. All sorts of exotic green fruits and herbs, even more so than the pumpkin. It’s not shy

P: sharp, weird, herbal green candy. Finishes with longlasting wintergreen

Matchbook Ritual Sister Smoked Pineapple Spirit (40%)

N: hogo, Jamaican jerk, not exactly smoky but maybe grill charred pineapple, packing tape

P: not as estery as the nose but fairly earthy, clay, not so far from clay pot mezcal, roasty veggies and all. Disappointingly mild though
