There might be more than one bottle this first sample could be from, but I know nothing other than what’s shown on the label and that it was sent to me maybe eight years ago.
Foursquare Port Cask Finish (40%)
N: the first thing to note here is not Port-y fruit but wet, pulpy wood and peanut shells. Slightly grapey and blackberry-fruited behind that, and some blackstrap molasses
P: generic molasses rum notes inflected (but only mildly) with grapey fruit and mushy nuts. Mild in general, the 40% proof not doing this any favors

Foursquare Cognac and Pineau Finish Wagemut x Cognac Expert (43.6%)
N: the finishing shows clearly, with a sweet, cellary orchard fruit very like Pineau. Golden muscadine, light coppery oak, a hint of orange
P: fairly full and warming for 43%, and sweet too. Tastes young, driven by fruit and especially finish, like a nice VSOP as much as a rum
